In this episode we discuss the criteria and research methods to choose which product to sell on Amazon. Choosing the right product to sell on Amazon is one of the most important decisions you'll make — and it should be based on data, not emotion.
Look for products with strong demand, manageable competition, and healthy margins that allow room for advertising spend. A good rule of thumb: if your product can't support a 30–40% advertising cost of sale (ACoS) while still being profitable, the margin is too thin for Amazon.
Research the top 10 sellers in your target category. Are they established brands or small sellers? Do they have thousands of reviews or hundreds? The level of entrenchment in a category tells you how hard it will be to break in and at what cost.
