The hero shot is the first product image on an Amazon listing and also the first image that shows on Amazon results pages when you are searching for products. It has a disproportionate impact on whether someone clicks on your listing at all.
Amazon requires a white background for the main image — but this actually levels the playing field and makes the product itself the differentiator. Focus on the product's presentation, angle, and visual quality. A professional, clean hero shot will outperform a cluttered one every time.
Use your secondary images to tell the full story: show the product in use, highlight key features with callouts, include lifestyle shots, and address common objections visually. Your image gallery is your sales pitch — treat it that way.
